The Plexus Institute PD MRSA Prevention Partnership involves collaboration among a network of hospitals, PD facilitators, Positive Deviance Initiative, CDC, and Delmarva Foundation/Maryland Patient Safety Center. The Partnership is committed to pioneering the use Positive Deviance in MRSA prevention. Given the role of serendipity in understanding complex phenomena, it’s not surprising that I sort of backed my way into complexity work.
I have been fascinated with human communication for over 25 years. My career started in graduate school where I studied Communication Theory at the University of Texas. After school, I put my social science background to work in the field of collaborative technologies. (This was back when we were doing threaded discussions from the C:> prompt!) I went into the field of technology because no one could figure out what my degree in Organizational Communication really meant. I just couldn’t get people to understand that I wasn’t planning to spend my time writing internal employee newsletters for a living.
